Registration for the summer session of the licensed vocational nurse (LVN) and paramedic transition to an associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) program for the 2022–2023 academic year at Hill College is open. The first course of the three-semester program will begin on May 22, 2023. The application deadline for the summer transition session is April 1, 2023. This course is offered as a combination of online classes and in-person exams and clinicals.

The Hill College nursing program offers quality education and training to students interested in the nursing profession. The transition program offers students who have already begun their nursing and paramedic careers to advance their education and profession as vital members of the medical community.

Earning an ADN allows students to become a registered nurse (RN) in just three semesters and begin their career in the workforce, while also providing a foundation for earning a bachelor’s of science in nursing if they choose to further their education in the future.

Current Hill College student Yesica Mendoza is completing the LVN to ADN hybrid program at Hill College. She stated, “I am a mother of four and work as an LVN during the week. The hybrid transition program has allowed me to continue my education and achieve my degree while simultaneously providing for my family.”

Mendoza also states, “One of the reasons I chose Hill College is that they are known for their nursing program. I’ve enjoyed being able to complete my clinical hours at local hospitals. It provides a real-life experience to give care to those in need.”

Interested students must hold a valid unencumbered Texas LVN license or Texas Paramedic certification/licensure. Students must also have a grade of B or better in the following pre-requisite courses: Anatomy and Physiology I and II in the last five years; Lifespan Growth and Development; Composition I; and College Algebra.

Students already admitted to Hill College can apply for the ADN transition program directly. Interested LVNs and paramedics who are not currently admitted to Hill College must apply for admission at hillcollege.edu/admissions.
